Titahi Bay
06 November 2010

After a beautiful week the weather turned to custard for the 3rd WGTN club round at Titahi Bay on Sat. Wind gusts of 35knots and a 3-4ft swell made for some very tricky racing. With 2 boats popped from racing the previous night the field was down to 4 cold, scared but excited, somewhat frightened looking teams.

TBC dominated the day with consistent wins although did almost get beaten in points after penalties were taken into account, admittedly the RD and Marshalls may have been picking on them a little (thanks Pip, cheques in the mail). Demon Energy in the boat they stole from Get Funkd took out second with some interesting driving, but the team to watch was the new Dodge boys whose super light boat combined with a super light coey seemed to be everywhere except on the water, with high winds flying it like a kite over every wave. The same cannot be said for the driver Dave (no not that Dave) who did find the water when he went swimming mid race,  I am informed he spent the whole drive down hassling TBC for falling out of their boat, payback aye. The other starter Demon red had an interesting day of stops and starts, seemingly driving their own race which did not always seem to be on the same course as the rest of us, still they had fun.

It was another great day with exciting racing and amazingly no incidents despite the rough, windy conditions. Well done to everyone for staying up right and a big thanks to our RD Pip who had absolutely no faith in us racers placing bets on which lap we would all be flipping, we proved you wrong!
